NCAA Tennis Complex
From the courtroom to the tennis court- Thomas J. Henry continues to make a difference in the Coastal Bend community. Recently, his generous efforts were recognized by Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi representatives and several community members at the dedication of the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center at the Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi’s Momentum Campus.
About the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center
The $2.4 million complex, funded in part by a generous donation from Mr. Henry, includes:
- 12 tennis courts built to NCAA specifications
- top-of-the-line Musco lighting system
- exterior public address system
- security fence
- 220-car parking lot
Helping the TAMU-CC Tennis Team
For the tennis team, the 12-court Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center means big changes. According to Steve Moore, Director of Tennis, they will now have the ability to host dual matches, camps, events and even tournaments. Moore and the entire team are excited about all the possibilities these new courts will bring. “The feeling is electric,” Moore said, calling the center a “borderline masterpiece.”
Mr. Henry has been a long-time supporter of the Islanders’ athletic programs which competed as an independent from 1998 until the University joined the Southland Conference in 2006. Since then, the Islanders men’s tennis team has dominated the SLC, winning four-straight conference championships and three of the last four conference tournaments.

“Since the start of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s NCAA sport’s program, I have been involved in helping them progress their vision. Our community benefits from a university that believes in growth, and through the University’s leadership, I have seen them expand at an exceptional rate.
The Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center is only a portion of a larger endeavor and I am proud to support the University on this venture. Corpus Christi is my home, and I am honored to be part of the future of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi community.”
A History of Commitment
Mr. Henry has an extensive history of philanthropy in the Coastal Bend, and has continuously provided financial support to Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. According to TAMU-CC’s Director of Athletics Tim Fitzpatrick, “His commitment to Texas A&M University Corpus Christi athletics is indisputable.”
